On 30 July 2017, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with Ms. Zoe Che, Vice President of University of Sanya (USY) during the presence of the 10th ASEAN-China Education Cooperation Week in Guiyang. Mr. Zhang Xuehai, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Division of ACC, Mr. Yu Xuzhong, Vice Director & Secretary-General of Center for Public Diplomacy Studies of USY, and Ms. Nana Chen, staff of International Department of USY attended the meeting.
Ms. Zoe Che, Vice President of USY, said USY’s quality of talent training has been remarkably improved by vigorously promoting the integration of production and education, and the cooperation of university and enterprise in response to the national appeal of “mass entrepreneurship and innovation” and the university’s educational mission of “preparing students to be more valuable contributors for society in the future”. She added that USY has been short listed in China’s top 50 universities on graduate employability by the MoE in 2015. This year USY won again China’s top 50 universities on entrepreneurship and innovation, becoming one of the very few universities in China and the only one university in Hainan to get these two honors.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping spoke highly of the achievements made by USY
Ms. Zoe Che expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the ACC for the great support to USY’s foreign exchange and cooperation. She siad that the visit organized by the ACC and SEAMEO RIHED for universities and HEOs from southeast Asian countries in April of this year was a new pattern promoting collaboration between countries concerning education, culture and tourism, and was such a great opportunity for USY to develop cooperation with universities in the ASEAN countries. In the end of this year, USY will organize the ASEAN-China Private Higher Education Development and Cooperation Forum. She expected ACC would give continuous support and assistance on this event.
Secretary-General Yang Xiuping spoke highly of the achievements made in the development and construction of USY as well as USY’s exchanges and cooperation with universities from the ASEAN countries. She said ACC has always put educational exchanges and cooperation as one of their working priorities, and would fully play its role as a bridge builder in building up platforms and networks to promote bilateral educational exchange and cooperation by working closely with governments, regional cooperative partners and educational organizations. ACC is committed to continuously exert its efforts and actively assist USY in exchange and cooperation with universities of ASEAN countries, aiming to strengthen mutual learning, achieve common development, and make greater contributions to ASEAN-China educational cooperation and cultural exchange.
